Vegetable-tanned leather is a natural, untreated material that develops a beautiful patina over time.
To help it age gracefully and last for years, follow these simple guidelines:
↦ If it gets wet: Gently blot (don’t rub) the water with a soft, dry cloth, then let it dry naturally away from direct heat. The leather may darken slightly — this is normal and part of its character.
↦ For oil or stains: Avoid using soap or cleaners. Light marks usually fade as the leather absorbs natural oils from your hands. For persistent stains, apply a very small amount of natural leather balm and gently buff with a clean cloth.
↦ Conditioning: Every 4–6 months, or when the surface looks dry, apply a thin layer of leather conditioner or beeswax-based balm. This keeps the leather supple and helps prevent cracking.
↦ Ageing: Over time, the leather will darken, soften and develop a rich sheen. This unique patina reflects your personal use — no two pieces age the same, and that’s part of its beauty.
